We are delighted to announce the launch of the Irish-language version of Pytch, just in time for the beginning of the new school year.

This builds on our ongoing work to make Pytch and our learning resources available to Irish-speaking students and educators.

Using Pytch in Irish ☘️

The Pytch application is now available in both English and Irish.

When you open Pytch, you’ll find a language picker in the top-left corner of the application. Simply select Gaeilge from the language picker and start coding with Pytch in Irish!

Pytch helps learners make the transition from block-based programming, such as Scratch, to writing Python code, allowing them to create games, animations and other projects while developing their programming skills.

Working with Kinia 🤝

We worked closely with Kinia on the Irish translation of the Pytch application, and we are hugely grateful for their expertise and support.

This collaboration builds on our earlier work to make Pytch learning materials available in Irish. Together with Kinia, we previously translated our learning resources and developed a dedicated Pytch online learning module for educators. This module is available for free through Kinia’s learning platform in both Irish and English. Simply register and start learning to code with Pytch.

More Irish-language resources on the way

The launch of the Irish version of the application isn’t the end of the work. We are continuing to develop our Irish-language resources and are currently working on translations of:

• the Pytch Help sidebar
• two Pytch tutorials
• two Pytch demos

These resources will provide even more support for teachers, educators and young people who want to learn and teach Python through Irish.

And we’re not stopping there… 🌍

We’re also working on a German-language version of Pytch, as we continue exploring ways to make Pytch available to an even wider community of learners.

With our Irish-language version now live and more translations and resources underway, there are exciting times ahead for Pytch!
