We’re delighted to share that Pytch has received great recognition in the 2024 Technocamps Annual Report, highlighting its impact across a wide range of educational activities in Wales. You can view the full report here.
Technocamps is a pan-Wales school and community outreach unit aimed at addressing the knowledge gaps in digital education throughout Wales. They have been supporting educators and learners for almost 30 years, helping to make STEM subjects more accessible and engaging across the country. In its work, Technocamps has been using our Pytch system and resources with young people, as a step towards text-based programming in Python after working with block-based programming tools.
What teachers think of Pytch
It is an honour to see our work referenced alongside initiatives that are helping teachers and learners engage with coding and STEM activities across Wales. Rachel Roberts, a Computer Science teacher and DCF (Digital Competency Framework) Coordinator at Gowerton School shared her thoughts on discovering Pytch:
“In recent sessions, we have learned about a new website called Pytch, which was fantastic. We have been struggling with the process of moving from block coding into Python, and this is the perfect transition, so we are looking to integrate this into our curriculum soon.”
We’re delighted to hear that Pytch is helping with this common challenge of moving from block-based to text-based programming and is is great to see that our goal of creating a smoother, more accessible transition for learners is having an impact on students and teachers.
Future collaboration in Scotland
As we continue to support educators and learners, we’re also looking forward to working with Dr. Lee Clift at the University of Strathclyde. Dr. Clift is a Teaching Associate in Computing and Information Technology and previously worked as a Technocamps Teaching Fellow. He brings valuable experience in developing inclusive, practical computing education. We’re excited to explore how Pytch can be useful in Scottish classrooms, too.
Appreciation
We’re grateful to Technocamps for including Pytch in their report and to all the educators who have taken the time to explore and share feedback on the platform. We’re continuing to learn from teachers and students to improve Pytch and we are looking forward to future collaborations.
