Ballinrobe Community School Visit Pytch to TCD

Thanks to Ballinrobe teachers and students ✨

We were delighted to welcome a group of 23 students and their teachers, Rita Feeney and Niamh Seoighe, from Ballinrobe Community School to Trinity College Dublin for a hands-on day with Pytch. The students arrived full of energy and curiosity, and once everyone had settled in, they had around an hour and forty minutes of focused coding time.

The Pytch team (Ben, Glenn, Augustina and Louise) supported the group as they worked through tutorials, asked questions and explored their own ideas. Engagement with Pytch was excellent throughout and students were happy to chat about what they were building.

Many students completed the Shoot the Fruit tutorial and even pushed themselves further by taking on extra challenges. Others branched out into different tutorials or experimented with adapting ideas into their own creative mini-projects. It was great to see students’ imaginations spark: some explored adding features, changing game dynamics or giving their projects a unique twist.

Looking forward to Pytch as Gaeilge! 💻🍀

There was a wonderful sense of collaboration in the room. Students chatted through ideas with the Pytch team and each other, shared what they were working on and happily explained their thinking. We had a great conversation with Niamh, an Irish teacher, about how valuable it is to have coding resources available as Gaeilge. This is something many schools would warmly welcome. We will have something exciting to announce about that soon!

Inspiration for a future at TCD 🎓💡

The students also enjoyed a tour around the Trinity campus, taking in the atmosphere of college life. The campus had a very special atmosphere as graduations were taking place. A number of the students mentioned that they were now considering Trinity as a place they might like to study in the future, whether in computer science or another field. We were delighted to think that this visit could spark new ambitions and have a positive impact on their paths ahead.

Overall, it was a fantastic visit filled with creativity, curiosity and thoughtful questions. We were genuinely impressed by the students’ engagement and the supportive atmosphere created by Rita and Niamh. We look forward to hearing how the students from Ballinrobe Community School progress their journey with Pytch.
