Pytch for Educators

Pytch can be used by educators as an 8-week lesson plan or as a one-time workshop for more flexibility.

8-Week Lesson Plans

In collaboration with educators, we have created an 8-week lesson plan aimed for 9th grade students. Lesson plans and materials are available to educators free of charge. They are also included in the CSLINC (Computer Science Inclusive Learning Environment) project, to reach and support CS education widely.

One-Time Workshops

For more flexibility, Pytch offers one-time workshops for educators to use the Pytch app in one class only or to get a feel of it before committing to the 8-week lesson plan.

One time workshops are suitable for any classroom.

8-Week Lesson Plan

Pytch lesson plans are designed to bridge the gap between Scratch (a visual programming language) and Python (a text-based language), offering a structured, 8-week curriculum for teachers and classrooms to introduce students to coding in a fun and engaging way.

Lesson Plan Structure & Approach

8-week course

In collaboration with stakeholders, our team has co-created a curriculum-aligned 8-week lesson plan for teachers and classrooms. All materials are available to educators free of charge.

materials

Materials include lesson outlines, presentation slides, student worksheets, teacher solutions, videos, Pytch links with special features (e.g comparing the code changes with the given program).

PRIMM Approach

The structure of our lessons follows a PRIMM (Predict; Run; Investigate; Modify;
Make) approach for interactive and engaging Python lessons based on Pytch.

Lesson Topics

The 8-week course consisting of 7 Pytch lessons and 1 evaluation lesson include topics such as indentation, variables, random numbers, nested and while loops, boolean, conditions, debugging, and lists.

One-Time Workshop

For more flexibility, we created one-time workshops for educators to teach Pytch in a classroom setting. This gives educators the chance to try Pytch in an educational environment before committing to the 8-week lesson plan, or if the given curricula do not allow more modification.
