Pytch at Dublin Maker
Last weekend, we brought Pytch to Dublin Maker in Leopardstown! We were thrilled to be part of it, sharing what Pytch is all about and meeting many people excited to take the next step in coding. We were also glad to be doing a joint stand with VisionCode, who brought some interactive projects. It was great to see people engaging with technology in new ways, using touch and sound, and showing how visually-impaired makers and users can work creatively with technology.
Our stand featured arcade-style games built in Pytch, running on Raspberry Pis with real controllers. Visitors played custom-built versions of Pac-Man and Breakout, created by our talented intern, Maeve. This was a great opportunity to see the extent of Pytch and what users can build with a little bit of curiosity and creativity.
One of our favorite parts of the day was talking to so many people who are already confident with Scratch and curious about leveling up.
Pytch is designed to be that next step for people who are confident in Scratch and ready to learn more. Pytch keeps the block-based layout of Scratch while introducing writing code in Python, one of the most widely used programming languages in the world. This makes Pytch the perfect next step for:
- Students who want to extend their coding skills
- Teachers looking for a bridge between Scratch and text-based coding
- Makers of all ages who want a fun, accessible way to get started with Python
We loved seeing kids, parents, teachers, and curious makers play and ask, “Wait, I could code games myself?” This is why events like Dublin Maker are so special; they bring the community together, spark interest, and show kids, parents, and teachers new possibilities.
👉 If you didn’t get a chance to stop by our table, you can try out Pytch here and see what you can make.
Thanks to everyone who came by to play, chat, and share your enthusiasm, and special thanks to Dublin Maker for having us. We can’t wait for the next one!
