Pytch on the Kinia Learning Platform and full Pytch course now available as Gaeilge

We’re delighted to share some exciting news for teachers and students interested in creative coding with Pytch.

Through a collaboration with the wonderful team at Kinia, a new set of Pytch learning modules is now available on the Kinia learning platform in both Irish and English. Alongside this, the full set of Pytch classroom lesson materials is now available as Gaeilge for the first time.

This partnership brings together Kinia’s expertise in designing accessible learning experiences with Pytch’s creative coding resources, helping more teachers and students across Ireland explore programming in an engaging and inclusive way.

The Irish and English courses are also available to download from our Pytch Lesson Plan page. You can read more about this collaboration in the Trinity Press Release announcing the partnership (available in Irish and English).

Kinia is a non-profit education organisation dedicated to promoting inclusive learning, equality and opportunity for children and young people across Ireland. Their learning platform supports educators in schools and youth settings nationwide, reaching hundreds of thousands of learners each year.

Working together with Kinia, the Pytch team at Trinity College Dublin has helped bring Pytch’s classroom-ready lessons onto the Kinia platform, making them easier than ever for educators to access and use with their students. The new modules guide learners step-by-step through creating their own games and interactive projects while developing core coding skills.

Supporting Irish-medium education 📚

A particularly exciting aspect of this collaboration is the availability of the Pytch lesson plans in Irish. This opens the door for teachers working through the medium of Irish to introduce creative coding in a way that aligns with their classroom language.

Irish-medium education continues to grow across the country, with tens of thousands of students learning through Irish in primary and post-primary schools. By making Pytch resources available in both languages, we hope to support teachers and learners in these schools while helping to broaden participation in computing more widely.

Thank you to Kinia ✨

We are hugely grateful to Marianne Checkley, Shannagh Rowland and the Kinia team, who have done a beautiful job creating the new learning modules. Their expertise in designing engaging, accessible learning experiences has helped bring the Pytch materials to life on the Kinia platform.

We are also very grateful to Research Ireland, whose support through the Discover Programme makes this work possible.

Looking ahead 🚀

We are also very excited to be working towards the release of an Irish-language version of the Pytch app later this year. This will allow students to create games and interactive projects using Pytch entirely through the medium of Irish, further supporting Irish-medium education and helping more young people experience the creativity of coding in their own language.Explore the resources

We’re excited to see how teachers and learners across Ireland will use these resources to create games, animations and interactive projects with Pytch.
